This week was a very busy, long week! I had papers to turn in and an exam due. I managed to get those done, but now this weekend I also have two more papers to write for Monday. I can't wait to actually enjoy next weekend. :)
I joined a cooking class on Tuesday. It is put on by a former chef, Henry Hoskins, that has worked with the program for 10-12 years. He is a very interesting guy. We made stews and casseroles with lamb, pork, and beef. I got to keep the six meals for this weekend. It's a relief knowing that I don't have to go and buy and food and then cook it. I had to pay 45 pounds for the class, but will probably end up saving at least that much by eating the things we cook on the weekend. While we were waiting for the food to cook, Henry gave us a small tour of some rooms that we don't get to see and he also told us some "ghost" stories. I saw two cells that they had used to prisoners and climbed in a peep hole where the priest was kept when he was wanted by enemies. It sure was made for skinny people to climb through, but once in the room, it was huge! I now know that my room isn't haunted. The teacher's wing is pretty haunted. There is a little girl that used to live there and Henry said several people have told him that they had different encounters with her. One of my professors that is in the class with my, said when he first arrived here and was working in his room and felt a tug on his shirt and thought it was one of his little girls. They were no where around their dad's room! Think what you want to think.... :)
The rest of the week wasn't scary. On Thursday night, the kid's with host families had them come to the house for pub quiz night. My friend's and I participated, even though I don't have a host family. I was on a team with two other girls and the other teams had around six people on them. We took third to last, but did our best. There were snacks and drinks available, too. It was a good time. I wish I had the one girl's family because they are pig farmers! I would love to see how they farm here and how everything is run. She said they would be happy for me to come with her some time to visit them.
Yesterday, we had a house trip with our Scottish professor to Glasgow, his hometown. He lead us on a small bus tour. The tour started around the City Centre and then he took us to the East End. It is a poorer part of the city, but they are trying to have more growth by holding the 2014 Commonwealth Games there. There was a lot of construction going on to get ready for the games. We then arrived at the Celtic Stadium, also known as home to Professor Mooney. haha. There is a lot of history everywhere, even at the stadium. First we watched a small video on the history, then went on to tour the locker room, walk on through the tunnel and see the field, and see Rod Stewart's seat. I wish I knew more about football (soccer).
